Rei is a quiet, shy, modest woman who does not speak or act in a loud or brazen manner. She can be virtually invisible, especially in a crowd of people. Just because she is quiet and unassuming, doesn't mean that Rei cannot be forceful. Rei is protective of her friends, observant, supportive, and defends things she finds precious to her. She finds it amusing and charming that many people assume she is still a teenager due to her small height and youthful face. She's a big eater for someone her size and seems outwardly unconcerned. Truthfully, she worries about even minor details, but prefers not to share those worries with others unless absolutely necessary. She hates being the center of attention, and gets nervous speaking to crowds and large groups.
Fei
Fei is the other "soul" that lives inside Rei. Fei is almost a complete opposite of Rei. Where Rei is quiet, Fei is loud. Fei loves to fight, loves being the center of attention and is aggressive and bloodthirsty. She hates working with others, and absolutely despises weakness (and therefore Rei). Worse yet is that Fei knows that she can't live without Rei. Fei is absolutely fearless, and while she actively despises Rei, she will protect her fiercely because if she doesn't than she will die as well. Fei is a serious believer in survival of the fittest, and she is short-tempered and finds almost everybody irritating in some way or another, so is more than content to simply let Rei be most of the time. Rei likes to wear things with bright colors and that can catch in the wind, while Fei tends towards dark clothes that provide a wide range of motion. She wears her forehead protector tied over her shuriken holster on her left thigh, with the metal part facing outwards. When on missions, Rei/Fei wears a black trench coat over the rest of her clothes. Rei is always found wearing an amulet that looks like a kind of jewel held by circling wires. The gem seems to glow with a dull inner light, until Fei's "soul" inhabits Rei at which point the gem seems to glow actively with a fiery inner light.
History: Eighteen years ago, a girl was found battered and near death on the edge of the village of Konohagakure, clutching tightly to an odd amulet. Found by a old married couple who had no children of their own. After taking the girl to the hospital to treat her injuries, the old couple took her home to raise her as their own. The questioned the girl about where she had come from, but the girl could only remember her own name, Rei, and that she should never be parted from the amulet around her neck.
The old couple gave Rei their family name, Awase and officially adopted the girl. They let Rei do almost anything she wanted, which at a young age involved joining the ninja academy. Rei successfully graduated with mediocre marks in every subject. Her time as a genin was entirely unremarkable, and she struggled to graduate the chunnin exams, which she finally did on her third try.
Her chunnin career was appearing to be just as lackluster and ordinary until an incident that occurred on her just after her 17th birthday, almost 2 years since she'd become a chunin. While investigating rumors of activity near the border, the squad Rei was assigned with was ambushed by a unit of Mist ninja. Rei was knocked unconcious but when she came too, Rei was clutching tightly to a sword used by one of their attackers, and everybody else around her was dead, the wounds on their bodies indicating they were killed by the sword she held.
It was then that she heard a voice that came from the amulet that she still wore day after day. It bluntly explained what had happened to her. The "soul" within her, Fei, had seized control of Rei's body when she had been knocked out and proceeded to eliminate the threat to itself and Rei. Frightened and confused by what had happened and the possibility that Fei might have killed her team as well, Rei fled back to Konoha.
After the matter was investigated and Rei was cleared of any wrongdoing, Fei's presence continued to exist noticeably, manifesting as a presence in Rei's mind, and occasionally stepping in and forcibly "replacing" Rei's personality when she was endangered. With the skills Fei possessed, Rei's career was no longer plain and dull. Within a year of Fei's awakening, she had been promoted to jounin, and by her 19th birthday, Fei had caused Rei to be promoted into the ranks of the ANBU Black Ops.
Shortly after her promotion into the ranks of the ANBU, Rei's adoptive parents died of old age, leaving Rei alone with Fei. Rei had never been particularly outgoing or socially active, but after her adoptive parent's death and Fei's "arrival" caused her to be more withdrawn than she had been before. Some of her jounin superiors, worried about Rei's well-being posted her on an indefinite leave of absence and reassigned her to training a genin squad so that she could relax in an environment more suited to Rei's personality than the Black Ops. Origin: Rei aquired the blade from a defeated Kirigakure ninja. It has become Fei's favored weapon.
Abilities: The blade is unnaturally sharp and never dulls, as well as the sword is made out of a chakra conducting metal

Kekkei Genkai: Kagami no Seirei [Spirit Mirror]
Abilities: "Forces" a second soul to exist within a subject, via a Focus, an item to contain the other soul. The subject of the Kagami no Seirei is in turn rewarded with having an expanded source of chakra, as well as a "second set" of senses, and the ability to "swap" souls, causing a change in physical appearance as well as some skills (i.e. a primarily ninjutsu type changing to a taijutsu specialist, etc). Because of the souls growing together, to remove the Focus for an extended period of time would cause death.

Description: Similar to other clone techniques, it creates a solid clone of fire that can attack and is dispelled after receiving a very minor amount of damage. Unlike other clone techniques, after receiving terminal damage or connecting with an opponent, the clones explode with roughly the same force as a Great Fireball technique. The chakra cost to effectively maintain the clones make them draining and impractical for long-term use. They can be dispelled without exploding, but only if Rei dispels them herself.

Description: By focusing a large amout of wind-based chakra into the blade of a weapon, the user of the technique charges up and then releases it in a large blast of Wind chakra capable of cutting through almost anything. This can attack from a moderate range (about 10m is the maximum limit) and the attack takes time to focus all the necessary chakra as well as having a large chakra expenditure to begin with.

The style at first glance appears to consist of seemingly random and careless attacks, but each attack is thought out often several moves in advance.

Description: By focusing a large amount of chakra through the user's body, the user creates an attack by placing both hands on the sword hilt and striking with all their might. The attack has a bit of a wind-up and is most effective when the other opponent is to slow to evade or is incapable of evading.

Description: This is a series of surprisingly fast attacks, designed to put the selected opponent(s) completely on their guard. If the user is able to keep up, they can strike three times in the blink of an eye, rendering the technique highly dangerous to the targeted foe. The very nature of the attack leaves the user virtually defenseless and if the target is able to counterattack through the flurry of strikes, the user is completely unable to defend against the attack. The attack is very physically demanding and uses a lot of stamina, especially the longer the technique lasts.

Description: By combining her Crimson Sword and Zantetsuken techniques, Rei/Fei is able to create a massive firey blast from her sword that causes immense damage to any target caught by it. The technique however requires an utterly massive amount of chakra and focus to pull it off (Rei/Fei can only do it twice before exhausting her chakra, and requires half a minute to charge up the necessary amount of chakra).
