Insanity strikes

Masao jumped down from the large cliff face next to village, landing lightly on his feet. He had just returned from a difficult mission, and he was ready to go home and relax before he moved on to another mission, or possibly even a training position. He began to walk across the sand, headed toward the main entrance of the village. There was a large sand plain here, relatively flat, and almost 100 yards long. It was meant so that any approaching ninja would be easily seen, although it also meant a perfect battleground. Masao wiped the sweat from his forehead, and continued across, until he noticed a boy, standing near the entrance of the village...

Masao saw the boy jumping and running around, and wondered for a moment what was wrong with him, then suddenly he noticed.. a samurai???... attacking the boy with a barrage of deadly attacks. The boy was obviously a ninja, yet seemed to be making no counter attacks. Masao could only think that the boy was newly graduated, and had yet to develop any powerful offensive techniques to deal with this threat. Well, it was Masao's duty to protect the village genin, and running forward Masao quickly formed a number of handsigns.

"Earth Release: Rock Wall Jutsu!"

Masao lifter up his hands, forming a large rock wall immediately in front of the genin, causing the most recent barrage to knock harmlessly off the side of the wall.

Masao watched in mild confusion as both boy and samurai were pulled up by his wall, as if dangling from something... perhaps the samurai has attack the boy with wires? That must be it. Perhaps the two were sparring, although the equipment seemed a little too deadly for that. Deciding to investigate, Masao began to swiftly walk across the open sand, while the boy continued to yell at him.

"You! You're the problem! Anyone who would have seen that would have interfered, not everyone assumes a sparring match when they see people being attacked. Not to mention, you need to calm yourself down. Nothing bad happened!"

Masao yelled continuously, waving his arms in the air as he did so.

The Samurai began to move toward Masao, and he quickly backed up. The samurai didn't have any weapons that Masao could see, but that didn't mean anything: Masao had seen the barrage that the man had been sending at the boy earlier. Masao was still confused: was the Samurai an enemy attacking the boy, or was he simply a sparring partner that wasn't above attacking someone else? Regardless, Masao knew he should treat this as a real fight, although he would try to avoid killing the man. First thing was first though, this sand was unsuitable for the vast majority of Masao's jutsu.

"Earth Release: Rock Creation Jutsu!"

Masao slammed his hand into the ground, and there was a soft rumbling as the sand compacted together into solid rock, which spread out 100 meters from when Masao was standing. Pulling himself back up, Masao quickly performed a quick set of hand seals.

"Earth Release: Weapon Rain Jutsu!"

Masao lifter his arms up, pulling up a large number of various sharp ninja weapons, before raining them down on the samurai. He spread them out, making it much more difficult to dodge although the damage would not be as high as if he had concentrated the rain of rock.

Masao watched impassively as the samurai jumped back to the boy. They must be teammates, sparring, if one would protect the other. Then he watched in fascination as the samurai seemed to... fall open? to form a large metal wall. From what quick glimpses he saw, the man was hollow inside. Was he mistaken? It would explain a lot, like the Samurai's quick speed and ability to hold so many weapons. But then, how was it moving? Perhaps some sort of remote possession jutsu? Was there another ninja hidden in the rocks?

Masao's thoughts were interrupted as the armor suddenly seemed to fly across the ground, seeming to defy gravity. The large blade on its head was going right for Masao's chest, a surely deadly strike. Masao swung his hands up in a quick combination of seals, and shouted out:

"Earth Release: Hidden Ground Jutsu!"

Masao quickly buried his entire body underground, hoping that the samurai would simply fly overhead.

Masao has only been underground for moments until he felt the earth around him rapidly heating up. He quickly deduced the the opposing ninja was most likely using a fire jutsu on him. There was little hope for him is he stayed in the ground. Quickly considering his option, a smile lit up Masao's face as he thought of an idea. Forming a few handsigns underground, he mouthed:

"Earth Release: Rock Pillar!"

Masao concentrated as he felt the large amount of chakra escape from his body: this jutsu took nearly half his chakra, and nearly all of it went into summoning the damn thing. Masao quietly resolved never to use the jutsu again.

Masao quickly released his earlier jutsu that buried him, causing him to erupt back at the top of the pillar, looking around quickly to see what the enemy would do, and if the Samurai has been crushed.

Masao watched impassively as the Samurai flew upward, heading toward him. Masao was rapidly growing tired of the fight, and the Samurai insisted on using the same style of attack on him multiple times. Masao quickly formed a number of handseals, pointing at the approaching samurai.

"Rock Release: Rock Needle Rain Jutsu"

Masao converted the entire pillar he was standing, save the last 3 feet forming a small platform, into deadly senbon needles. Unlike his previous rock attacks, this needles were partially enforced with chakra, making them much harder, meaning that the samurai would surely obtain some damage to his armor if he hit. Which he hopefully would: Masao had sent the deadly barrage of needles right toward the approaching Samurai and the mysterious ninja behind him.

Meanwhile, Masao had to deal with the rapidly falling ledge of rock he was on. Masao quickly formed a rock clone from part of the ledge, and then had the clone throw him into the air, destroying enough of his momentum to land safely. Meanwhile, the ledge hit the ground fast, shattering both itself and the clone. Masao turned to see how his jutsu had affected his opponent...

Masao stood up slowly, his legs shaking. He had over exerted himself he knew, especially against such a young opponent. Masao doubted he would have the chakra to perform any more taxing jutsu, although he might be able to handle a little hand to hand if the boy went crazy. Slowly Masao walked toward the boy, hoping to clear up exactly what had happened. On his way he looked down at the scattered shards of metal. There was no blood, no anything, Masao noticed with shock. The boy seemed to be destroyed though: had he really felt such a connection to an inanimate object? Obviously, or he would not be crying. Masao sighed, and walked over to the body, who was still hunched over on the ground, slowing putting his hand out and patting him gently on the back, hesitation in every movement.

"It'll be fine. Don't worry, I know a good blacksmith who will be able to fix that right up."

Masao smiled. The boy truly was both intelligent and powerful, a true asset to the Village Hidden in the Sand. Masao shifted his weight, feeling the wires cut into his legs, gushing blood over the rock recently transformed from sand. Masao pulled a whistle out of his pocket, and blew hard. The desperate scream rang out amongst the dunes. Soon, shinobi would respond to the call. Then, very deliberately, Masao lifted his hands to in front of his face, forming a long train of handseals.

"You'll go far someday little boy, I can see that now. Good luck, maybe we can meet again...

Rock Release: Moutain Entombment Seal!"

Masao poured the last of his chakra into the jutsu, leaving just enough to sustain life. Of course he did not have the chakra to form the full mountain. However, he could flow the rock over his body and then over his head, creating a large craggy uprising a bit over eight feet tall. His body would remain inside, concious and in pain, until help arrived to free him. The rock would slow the bleeding, although he would die in a few hours without help. If the boy had had more enegy still, he probably could simply pound his way into the rock, to kill Masao, the reason Masao would never use this technique this weakly against another Jounin.

Masao simply floated there in the darkness, and waited...
