Just another day in the Mist Empty
PostSubject: Just another day in the Mist   Just another day in the Mist Icon_minitimeWed Apr 07, 2010 5:53 pm

For the village known as the Mist, Reichi was rather unimpressed at how clear the skies were looking that day. Even from the lowest point in the village, one would be able to see the sun looming in overhead. It was almost shameless how the village was flaunting its position. If anyone was even remotely close to the island, they would be able to see the stacks of smoke filming out from chimneys of the working armories and forgeries. He could almost taste the pollution in the air as he chewed his gum with an open mouth.

"I hate spring..."

Turning about on the railing, the young Genin would be found standing along one of the pathways that made the trees and green life that was abundant in even the most cleared-out parts of the village. Before, he hadn't actually been just looking at the smoke, but he had come to this part of the village for its great view of the scenery behind the administrations building. From most points in the village, all you can see is the sky or walls of the structures surrounding the residential areas. But at this particular point, among all of the lively neighborhoods, even a short child like Reichi could see what kind of beautiful nature surrounded the village.

As much as he hated to admit it, he was a sap for nature. And seeing all the crap spewing out, like a tobacco drip from a villager, from the industrial buildings of the village, he could hardly bare to stand living in such a place. But having lived in this hell for his whole life, he didn't have much of a choice. Leaning back against the railing, that seemed to come just short of his shoulders at his height, he would spit his gum out on the already tainted ground and use his foot to smother it into the pavement.

"Just another day in the *Mist, I suppose"

A little annoyed with people whom lived in this place, at this point, he would be almost ready to start an argument just so he'd be able to hit someone and have a reason.

Just another day in the Mist Empty
PostSubject: Re: Just another day in the Mist   Just another day in the Mist Icon_minitimeWed Apr 07, 2010 6:33 pm

Ryu had been walking through the city slowly, his arms hanging lazily at his sides, his strange and unique attire fluttering in the light breeze that would randomly spew through the trees every so often. The tip of his large sword almost dragged against the ground as he walked, though its size was of no hindrance to him anymore. He was regarded as a Genius Prodigy of the Mist when it came to Kenjutsu talents, and despite the unofficial title being given to him years ago, he had never given a single person any doubt that he was worthy of such a thing. Most of the kids from the Ninja Academy recognized Ryu as being the guy that blatantly refused to use even the basic ninjutsu that they taught, instead passing solely on his taijutsu skill. Walking slowly past most of the village, he headed toward the forest where he trained daily, for most of the hours of each day. Though Ryu would stop for a moment, turning his head to the right to face the boy that was standing there, staring at the scenery. His voice was dull, lacking of any friendly banter, as he was use to everyone hating him, though clearly didn't care of such things.

"Something of interest?"

He asked, looking forward into the rain soaked forest for a moment before turning his head to look at the child again. He was not trying to cause any trouble, he was honestly just curious if there was a reason behind it, seeing as he was about to walk into it.

PostSubject: Re: Just another day in the Mist   Just another day in the Mist Icon_minitimeWed Apr 07, 2010 7:01 pm

Seeing the almost depressing looking figure of Ryu was something that didn't interest Reichi at all. But when the older boy stopped for a moment to turn and speak to him, who was doing nothing but leaning against a railing and looking up, Reichi would listen well to his words as he stopped what he was doing and looked at this boy in the eyes.

There was nothing particularly of interest to Reichi, other than nature itself, it was just his whimsical nature to try and ignore the rest of the world and not give a damn what they thought. But his question wasn't just a question, it seemed to be something of a judgment in on its own. What did it matter if there was or wasn't something of interest that Reichi was looking at. It was his eyes. He could do whatever the hell he wanted with them. It wasn't like he was making anyone else look at nature. Just because he was looking at that direction didn't mean anyone else had to look.

This may have been a bit of an overreaction, but its the kind of thought process the boy went through.

"What's it to you?"

Standing up straight and lifting himself from his relaxed position, Reichi would look up at this kid. He was obviously taller than himself, and was carrying around a large zanbatou. If the signs weren't enough that the guy wasn't one to be messed with, he had similar style to Reichi's own, carrying around a red accenting material and wearing contrasting clothing to look catching to the eyes. It was almost poetic how well they matched in style. But, then again, only almost.

Still, Reichi was looking for any reason to start a fight at this point. If this guy just happened to wander by and ask a question, it was only bad luck for him. With a very serious tone of expression, the child would look upon the adolescent with some form of annoyance written on his face.

PostSubject: Re: Just another day in the Mist   Just another day in the Mist Icon_minitimeWed Apr 07, 2010 7:23 pm

Ryu had been waiting for a reply to his harmless and innocent question when the kid spoke a rude remark, expressing that he clearly was not very happy. Blinking in slight confusion, he arched his left brow curiously as he stared at the child, the complete lack of movement of his body proving that he did not view this kid as a threat in the slightest. Sighing softly, he shrugged and turned his back to the kid, walking toward the forest once again. He was use to people hating him, and he did not feel like attempting to converse with an angry adolescent.

"I suppose nothing. . ."

He said with his back to the boy, stepping away as he quietly mumbled under his breath, his words inaudible. Ryu was not exactly a happy-go-jolly character himself, but he was not a fan of straight up jackasses, and this kid had already proven himself to be one of those, stepping forward as if ready to fight. Though, Ryu had no doubt in his mind that this kid would not be any sort of challenge, and he knew any of his typical remarks about weakness would only upset the temperamental kid further. However, turning a cold shoulder and walking away was also never a way to make an angry instigator calm down, in fact, quite the opposite.

Waiting for a reply, Reichi would raise a brow to the question of whether or not this guy would even be able to talk again. But when the reply was something of insightful thinking, Reichi's face would become somewhat grim. But before he could say anything back, the man had already turned away from the child and began to walk away. As soon as Ryu would realize that this person wasn't even going to respect him enough to converse with him, his reasoning, as he was still a child and reasoning was little at that, was more than enough.

"You jerk!"

He would jump up onto the railing and then run forward along the railing until he got to the end of the bridge. Once at the end of the railing, and ahead of this boy's venture into the forest, he would hop before the man's path and face Ryu with great annoyance. It wasn't just rude, it was degrading. And now impeding this man's path, he would hope that Ryu would stop and give answer to his actions.

"You ask a question, and then just pass on with no respect whatsoever?"

Hardly a time for questions, this was obviously a rhetorical statement. And something meant to offend as he was still looking to get the argument to a point where he wouldn't be seen as irrational for punching him. Though, the whole bit of looking for a fight was irrational on its own.

"You've got allot of nerve."

"Hm."

Ryu would let out a quiet sound as the boy jumped in front of him, not letting so much as a flinch come across his body or his facial features as he stared at the kid who jumped in front of him. He was clearly angry, and likely wanting a fight, but Ryu would not even prepare to defend himself until he knew it was necessary. The kid would speak an obviously rhetorical question before getting more angry, speaking yet again to Ryu. The Kenjutsu specialist would sigh and bring his right hand up to brush through his hair before both hands laced fingers together behind his back, standing rather relaxed.

"Call it nerve if you'd like, I prefer to call it self control. I don't enjoy conversing with those who seem angry with the first words they speak. My apologies."

He said, giving a light bow of his head before he stepped forward and to the side a bit to walk past the kid, unless the child planned to block his path again. As much as Ryu enjoyed combat, he didn't think this could would provide the kind of challenge he was looking for, and beating a child mercilessly would not look good on his record.

[Well, that was rather... short and uneventful]

As Ryu would walk past, Reichi couldn't help but feel like his entire purpose for having stopped him was now crushed by kindness. Ryu's own words were just about the only kind of action that could have been taken toward keeping Reichi from reacting in a violent way. And it almost pained Reichi to just let him go.

"Sorry, about that."

He wouldn't turn to Ryu to say this, but just look down to the ground, knowing his words wouldn't really mean anything at this point. Putting his hands in his pocket, and feeling the weight of the weapon on his back, he would still stand up straight, though his head was tilted down. And with his plans somewhat ruined, he now was in no mood to start an argument or even begin a squabble.

Niceties suck.

Ryu stopped when he heard the boy speak, only about a feet past him before he slowly turned around, looking at the child. Laughing quietly he looked at the kid, his arms hanging limp at his sides once again. Clearly amused by the sudden change of the kid, due to his complete lack of hostile actions, he decided to now speak to the kid since he had calmed down.

"I was about to walk into it. If there was something of interest, I would have wanted to know."

He said, answering the child's very first question as he had earlier demanded. He then looked over the kids shoulder, noticing the thing on his back. He was a master of nearly every type of weapon, but it did not look entirely familiar. Raising an eyebrow as he blinked, he looked the shorter kid in the eyes, politely, and spoke.

"Do you mind if I ask what exactly that weapon is?"

Hearing the steps of the older boy slow and then come to a stop, Reichi himself would turn his head to see that Ryu was no longer moving away from him. Somewhat confused at whether or not this guy actually was going to leave or not, Reichi raised a brow.

--

And though Ryu's words seemed to reflect some form of reasoning behind his actions up until this point, they only brought up more questions. What would he expect to be out there? Why trust a kid to tell you the truth? Why stop and bother at all if you act so sure of your own strength that you can turn your back on someone you just met? And then it dawned on him. The guy wasn't looking for any answers, he was looking for company. And though his next few words were that of a question in interest, he could tell that this guy wasn't exactly the social type.

"Hmm..."

Staring at him for a few moments he would look Ryu up and down and give him a mental grading based on his stature and what kind of personality he had. And as far as it went, Ryu got a four. And though that didn't seem like a good grade, compared to most people, that was pretty good. Tilting over his shoulder to see what Ryu could have been talking about, he saw his leashes in view. With a smirk, he was happy to share his ultimate weapon with the older boy. Turning back to face the guy, he unsnapped his hooks and let the leashes dangle from his shoulders so that the hooks would then rattle against the ground.

"They're my secret weapons."

A devious smile went across his face, and all that could be seen was a glint in his eyes that just pointed to the direction he was aiming for. Trouble.

Ryu watched closely and prepared to listen to the boy hopefully answer his interest of the weapon. Watching him pull it off his back and let the hooks dangle, he could see how much the boy cherished his unique, though crudely fashioned, weapons. Pondering for a few moments, he looked at the boy, smiling as well.

"It's good to see someone else that relies on weapons to prove their skill. Maybe some day when you get on my level, we can teach the Ninjutsu fools a thing or two."

Ryu said with playful smirk, nodding. The words would clearly sound insulting, though Ryu did not intend it as anything of the sort, for he honestly did not believe this kid could be anywhere near his own level of skill. He continued looking the weapons up and down, having seen numerous similar weapons, but nothing quite the same as it. It interested him, as all weapons and fighting styles always did.

Listening to Ryu give complement and insult at the same time, Reichi couldn't help but feel that this guy was severely underestimating his abilities. Of course, though this boy was older and probably was a much better ninja than himself, he didn't seem like he was that much better than himself. The only thing that really made him seem like he was strong at all was that he was carrying around that large sword effortlessly.

What was more interesting, though, was his own notion at showing "Ninjutsu Users" how much better than them he was. It was almost a form of religion in the way he said it. And that's what got to Reichi, made him think that maybe talking to this guy wasn't such a good idea. But then again, maybe he could beat this guy up to show him that just because he's older, doesn't mean he's better. Well, the best way to get into it was to surprise him and get him mad. So, maybe some form of betrayal would help to do that.

"What if I were to say that I was to become one of these Ninjutsu users? And who says, that I'm not already at your level?"

A smirk was still ever-present on Reichi's face as he spoke such ill words.

Just another day in the Mist Empty
PostSubject: Re: Just another day in the Mist   Just another day in the Mist Icon_minitimeWed Apr 07, 2010 10:25 pm

Ryu stayed seemingly serious as he looked at the kid, appearing to show more interest in his weapons than he himself. Though it was the younger boys words that drew Ryu's attention, slowly turning his head to look at his face. He listened until the boy was done speaking, then arched a brow, blinking, seeming to be confused for almost ten full seconds. However, after the long and awkward silence, Ryu just laughed with utter amusement, as if the kid had just told a joke, for Ryu took it as such.

"Relying on Ninjutsu and being better than anyone just don't go hand-in-hand. Such a foolish lack of obvious knowledge is proof enough that you're not at my level. No offense."

He said, shrugging his shoulders before he lifted his right arm to yawn into the baggy sleeve. It was not an elitist statement, or at least it was not to him, for such things were absolute truth in his mind. He then pondered for a moment, recalling some of the deep and wisdom filled teachings of his Sensei.

A long silence wasn't something that Reichi was expecting. What he had said must have gotten the guy. At least, that's how it seemed up until he laughed. At that point he'd give a statement of how relying on ninjutsu and being truly better than someone weren't the same. But then, was that an insult to those who use ninjutsu, or a backlash of conversation simply because he himself was lacking in that area. But then, by the way he was speaking and how his body showed no sign of stress, Reichi could tell that this wasn't just a front. He truly believed that. And for Reichi, he now had a goal to convince this guy otherwise.

Even if he wouldn't be able to prove this point in this experience, he could at least take a step forward in making his point. After all, logic is logic. And if this guy had any form of it, which he seemed to, he would stand aside if it came down to just that rather than pride. Still, getting past that pride would be a difficult task. Shaking his head at what Ryu said, Reichi decided to take the first step.

"Ninjutsu isn't just some form of cheap cheat. It's a tool. Just like that weapon you're wielding. And just like the weapon that I just showed you. It comes from the body and as such should be thought of as an extension of the body."

He spoke clearly, confidently and without something as foolish as pride shadowing his thoughts. As much as Ryu was speaking out his voice of opinion, Reichi had his own as well. And though he didn't feel like he should not respect Ryu's ideal, he thought in his own mind that this what the real truth of the world. And though it may not have been his decision to make whether or not to convince Ryu of this, he was a child.

And in his mind, it was right.

Ryu was slightly surprised by the younger males intelligently put remark on the subject, not having expected a reply anything close to that. However, he still disagreed entirely with it, in every way, shaking his head just as Reichi had done when he spoke his own words. Rolling his shoulders once, he waited for a few moments before he spoke, wanting to ensure the other was done speaking.

"If this is true, then please explain to me- Why do Taijutsu users have the ability to continue fighting so long as their training and physical stamina will let them, while other become useless as soon as their chakra supply runs out? Can your own limbs manipulate the elements of the world as you see fit? Manipulating an entire battlefield to your advantage is not a display of skill, but that of cowardice and self-doubt."

Ryu said, momentarily finishing his statement that both tone and expression would prove were entirely truth in his eyes. His arms remained limp at his sides as he waited for the child to reply, the look upon his face seeming to silently demand that the child stop debating a useless issue and prove him wrong if he believed it to be the case.

PostSubject: Re: Just another day in the Mist   Just another day in the Mist Icon_minitimeThu Apr 08, 2010 12:23 am

Being trained in the village's academy, Reichi knew much about how the inner workings of the body did. He knew very well that he could answer that question and explain it, in a somewhat jumbled and inexperienced way, but no matter how he would be able to, he probably wouldn't be able to convince this guy that chakra was drawn directly out of stamina. If his teachings didn't show him that, then he just wasn't taught very well. Without that step, he probably never learned how to properly convert chakra. That's probably why, to Reichi's theory, that he never learned how to use ninjutsu.

"I can't really tell you how someone who uses ninjutsu runs out of chakra so much faster than stamina. But, it's probably something similar to wielding a big weapon." He compared openly, inferring that Ryu was the character in this metaphor as he did have a big sword. "With a small sword or kunai, like taijutsu, you could swing around for a long time and get in allot of small hits. They might be critical, but usually it'll be small scratches. But with a big sword, like ninjutsu, you swing around something much heavier that takes up more energy. You can only swing it for so long, but it does allot more damage when you connect a hit. Maybe that's why people use ninjutsu. It's not that they want to cheat, but that they find it's a more useful way to act in combat. It's just a good tool to get the job done in a way that works for them."

This metaphor wasn't only an answer to Ryu's question, but also a statement to re-ensure Reichi's own ideals of ninjutsu.

"So in that idea, ninjutsu isn't cowardice. It's just another way of getting the same jobs done. In certain ways, it's less useful. But in other ways, it is more so. You can't say one is truly better than the other, simply because you prefer it for yourself."

A small child and a ninja at heart, Reichi may not have been the most intelligent person, but the basic knowledge of what they teach you at the academy stuck to his memories like a red-wine spilled on a white carpet. Well, maybe there's a better metaphor. But you get the idea.

So this was how it would be, Ryu stating his ideals and beliefs, while this kid did his best to correctly explain why it was not entirely true. Part of Ryu respected the boy for his mature and intelligent responses, while the other part hating him, feeling that he probably was one of this Ninjutsu users. Sighing quietly in disapproval of the second fear, he shrugged slightly.

"To each his own. Just don't go pretending you have skill if you decide you don't want to put forth the effort to improve your lack of skills with your weapons alone."

Ryu barely lifting his hand a few inches to point at the weapons on the kids arms. Ryu was clearly a strong believer of this "Kenjutsu religion" as it seemed to be. His hand then lifted further, slipping two fingers into the metal ring at the end of his swords handle, letting his arm hang from it lazily. He then spoke once more, his facial expression now showing he really didn't care to hear any more.

"Eh, I know those fools lack true skill. Claim what you will, but I hope you see the light some day, scrub."

He said, giving a small smile as he let out a quiet 'Heh' sound. It would probably seem disrespectful or degrading how he spoke to the kid, but Ryu was the type that would never think differently, possibly only if someone beat him in combat and his life was dependant on admitting he was wrong. Though, Ryu had thought of this scenario, and as it usually turned out in his mind- He would prefer death.

Watching Ryu as he sighed and explained that it was just opinion and each person had their own will. He also listened in depth to what Ryu had to say. This was probably the best conversation he had had with anyone in weeks. And with the thing of Ryu saying that Reichi shouldn't pretend he has skills if he doesn't end up using taijutsu as his main skill, Reichi almost got pissed. It was as if Ryu was proclaiming that anything other than his own path was wrong and nothing else would be permitted.

And with talking down to him as if he were just a little kid, was just the last straw. I mean, he was a little kid, but this Ryu guy couldn't have been too much older than him. So it wasn't exactly fair for him to just assume that Reichi didn't have enough experience to really have truth behind his words. With a frown, Reichi would decide that if he couldn't be an adult and converse with Ryu without having a condescending voice speak down at him, he would just be a kid and bring the other guy down to his level.

"Well then, I'll become a master of both and show you that I'll be both truly skilled in weapons and jutsu. My tools will be so great that I'll be able to beat anyone without even trying, in either area. Because they're all tools. And I plan to use all of them some day."

With a smirk he realized that now was the best time to get into that fight he was so eagerly looking forward to earlier. The glint in his eye had returned and his smile was devious. So much so, that he almost looked like a little devil. All he needed were horns and a arrow-head tail flailing in the background.

"And what makes you think you're so much better than me anyway? I bet you that I could beat you without even trying!"

His courage and confidence were both great.

Ryu listened to the kid, his brow slowly arching a bit more with every new sentence the kid spoke, issuing challenge, threat, childish attempts to prove him wrong without any way of backing it up. Though he stayed entirely quiet and did not move as the kid spoke, waiting until the kid finished speaking with such a simple question, followed by a threat. However, the mention of beating him without trying made the once serious Ryu burst out in laughter, one hand holding his stomach as his face lit up with amusement, clearly entertained by the child at this point.

"Hoo boy you sure are a joker. You were being so angry I was sure you'd attack if I said any wrong word at all and you were waiting to attack me for what reason? Please, if you were confident that you could take me with no effort, then why haven't you?"

Ryu asked seriously, though an amused smirk remained constant on his face, his arms going up, resting his hands lazily on the back of his neck as he yawned, watching the boy with a look that showed without question he perceived the boy as nothing more than a pest.

This guy was being pretty honest with him. But his honesty was only as far as his belittling and underestimating can go. With a few words of 'wisdom' through questions, Reichi knew that this guy obviously thought that he was just being childish. But though Reichi was normally a joker, he was much more advanced in his maturity than most children his age. Even if he was a bit selfish in his acts and more of an attention-seeker than most.

"You were right. I would have. Just because I wanted to hit someone. You were the unlucky first person to cross my path. But then you said some stuff and I calmed down. I don't want to hit you anymore... It was childish of me to even think it would be right."

Looking down at Ryu's feet, his eyes would only keep Ryu's face in his peripheral vision, so that it did not look as though he were keeping an eye on him. His hair fluttering down to cover the brow of his forehead, he continued with a very serious, and somewhat depressing tone. But then, just as it seemed like he was calmed down and had been put out of commission, he looked up out of the corner of his eyes so that his red and black eye colors could be seen under the contrasting sides of his hair. A demonic face that was something of a gross mystery on its own as he obviously wasn't looking very healthy, in a sanity form of sense, and looked of death.

"Now I want to beat the shit out of you."

Obviously, laughing at Reichi wasn't exactly the right choice of action in dealing with this kid's very hectic nature. And with the conversation already have been heading south, it was now at a point where anything could set him off. And though Reichi was just a genin, he was a good fighter from his days at the academy. Even if this guy did think of himself as something special, it didn't mean anything to Reichi. Just as this guy didn't think much of the little boy, the boy didn't think much of him.

Ryu stared at the kid with a blank expression, other than the slightly arched brow of curiousness of his words and the new emotion that came across the kids face. He was slightly interested in the boys words at first as he explained himself, though it was things that Ryu already knew. It was when the kids face changed, however, that Ryu's interest perked even more, watching the kid closely, though showing no signs of worry in the least bit. So, this kid wanted to pummel him into a bloody pulp for one reason or the other. Ryu smirked a bit, his hand inching over to very lightly grip the handle of his sword, showing that he would gladly take part in such a thing, but would not take the first blow or even show any sign of stress of attack.

"If you want something, you must take it, less weakness and fear prove stronger than yourself. If you want to, then do it."

Looking onto the older boy, he would see a smirk go across his face as the boy's hand came to a rest along the hilt of his blade. A nervous reaction that was well hidden by his lack of shaking and no signs of stress. This guy was good at hiding emotions, but made for a terrible liar. If he wasn't worried about an attack, he never would have reached for the handle of his blade. If he wasn't stressed, he wouldn't have smirked. And if he wasn't an asshole, he wouldn't have said anything in trying to provoke Reichi. His words were obviously meant to try and set off an attack so that he would be forced to make the first move.

But the kid was a pro at doing this kind of thing. Being an attention-seeker himself, he knew just how to set other kids off and was good at it too. He had years of experience with other people, annoying them and getting on their nerves. This kind of thing wasn't uncommon for him to pull. But amateur mistakes like gripping his handle, made all the difference between just how good Reichi was a annoying people, and how good this guy was at trying to annoy people. All this time analyzing, all this time spent staring on at Ryu, trying to figure things out, not a single movement aside from the regular compulsive actions that come with breathing.

"Tcch" He lost his smirk and looked like he was giving something of a look that showed he pitied Ryu. "You're weak."

He let his hands reach out for his leashes and whipped them forward in a diagonally upward motion. The two metal hooks would come just near enough so that they would scratch at Ryu's face, should he not move. And if he managed to dodge, he would have just enough time to see Reichi pull the leashes back, grab onto the fishing hooks and clip them into their rightful places, just on the padding of his shirt, above the shoulders.

Ryu was a man that could take many words without detterence, able to both listen to and dish out insult for sheer amusement when the situation provided. He could hold a conversation for hours on end about nothing, debate on serious issues, or even joke around just to curb his boredom. However, there was one thing that he would not ever accept, and this kid was just the one to find it. Whether it was on purpose or not, it worked, and Ryu's personality coupled with his endless training to keep his body at its physical limits would not take any words belittling his skill.

"Weak...?"

He would mumble as the kid grabbed his leashes and flung the spikes at his face. Ryu would easily dodge by moving his head back, enough to avoid the hooks, while simultaneously pulling the large sword from its sheath to swing it horizontally with incredible speed, for his own weapon was nearly weightless in his hands. Sure, trying to severe a young boy in half for calling him weak would seem like a bit much to most, but this kid wanted a fight, and was insulting the purpose and meaning of his life, which was something Ryu would not let go lightly. However, Ryu was sure that despite his speed, the kid would dodge such an obvious attack, which is why it was only the precursor and distraction of his true intention. As the sword was swung, his left hand would form a single seal on its own, and as the large weapon came back around, it would seemingly vanish as his right hand came around at the end of the swing by his left hip. He would use the swords properties to change the large blade into what could best be explained as a rope dart, though the end held a foot long sword rather than a tiny spike. The blue rope would swing around his hips, coming out from behind his right side in a wide arm, attempting to catch and wrap around the boy while he was still in the process of avoiding the initial cleaving attack.

After Ryu repeated Reichi's own words, the guy would arch back and swing out his blade. Obviously, there wasn't enough time to sit still, so Reichi had to pull out of his early offense and jump back away from the guy. And though he was fast, the attack was predictable and was easy to dodge as long as he kept his eye on the target. Still, as he landed near ten feet away at this point, he would clip his leashes back into place on his form to keep them from getting caught on anything.

But by the time he was done, his eyes would catch a rope that had came out around Ryu's backside and was now in swinging at him. At the end of it was a dagger meant obviously to skewer him with, or at least to try and restrain him. But it was still caught, giving Reichi the split-second necessary to jump straight back, one more time, and go into a back flip that would stride just over the weapon as it came like a whip to try and grab him.

He would land another two yards away after performing this maneuver and did so in quick time. With a deep exhale, he would have just enough time to watch the movement of his enemy before making a counter-attack.

Ryu watched as the kid managed to dodge both attacks, and rather than becoming angry at the avoidance maneuvers, a smirk crossed his features. This was his favorite of the hundreds of weapons he had mastered, and he knew that he would have fun putting this kid in his place. As the swinging weapon came back around after having missed its target, Ryu lifted his right arm, holding the black handled end of the rope weapon in his left hand. The rope would catch his forearm and swing around as it wrapped around it while Ryu would lower his right arm as he knelt for a split second before doing an in-place full twist back flip. This feat alone was expression of just how highly skilled he was, but also that of his strength and agility. However, it was not at all for show, though the quick movement would surely work to completely hide the angle at which the tiny weapon would attack from.

In the middle of the flip, his lowered arm would meet with his raised right leg, holding the bladed tip to rest along the top of his foot. As the flip nearly ended, before he touched the ground but faced the boy again, the back flipping portion of the maneuver would send the sword flying toward the child's chest with incredible speed with a powerful kick, a simple jerk of his arm would unravel the rope from around it, giving it full range potential as he landed in a crouched position, gripping the handle tight in his left hand, ready to jerk it in a split second to ensure all would go as planned, even if this complex and nearly impossible to predict move was dodged. This was the beauty of this style of weapon, for not only was it one of the fastest, and most difficult to judge, but this kid standing at range meant he was still in fatal striking distance, yet could not lay a hand on Ryu.

Seeing the man go into a flip-style maneuver, Reichi decided it was time to make his move. As the man would reach a pinnacle of his jump, he would begin to move around the parameter he had set around Ryu. And by the time Ryu would come out of the jump and aim the weapon to strike for Reichi's chest, he could make a simple decision to roll out of harms way. As the weapon would pass behind him, he would then simultaneously un-clip the fishing hook from his form and toss it back in the direction he had moved from, so that it would fly over the rope. His continuous roll would then force the leash to wrap around the rope and hook back into its own form, the hook piercing into a part of the leash so that the leash was wrapped around a section of the rope. The boy's movement would then tug on the rope, making whatever movement that Ryu was about to make, useless and the pull would only abstract the movements of his weapon further than even he would be able to control.

Though Reichi wasn't sure what would happen, as long as he kept his eye on the two targets, he knew that he would be fine. However, keeping control of this weapon might be harder than what he first predicted. Still, it was better than playing a fair fight with this Ryu guy. Because as it were, Ryu was right in his own abilities. If it were a fair fight, Reichi would lose.
