PostSubject: Re: Just another day in the Mist   Just another day in the Mist - Page 2 Icon_minitimeSat Apr 10, 2010 12:22 pm

Ryu smirked even wider as the kid managed to dodge the attack, quite impressed at the avoidance of such a complex assault. He knew he would enjoy this, but he didn't think he would be able to enjoy it this much. Laughing quietly as he watched the kid catch his weapon, attempting to steal and disable him, Ryu would perform a seal with his right hand before reaching over to grab the handle in his left hand. He would seemingly throw one end of the handle outward, forcing another blue rope to come out of the handle, a heavily weighted ball at the end, as the blade on Reichi's end would turn into a heavy ball as well. From rope dart, to twin meteor hammer - Ryu was going to have fun, and this boy would be lucky to escape with only a few shattered bones. Ryu would swing the other end of it around rapidly in his right hand, building up a great deal of momentum before he would attack.

Simultaneously, he would give the end in his left hand a hard tug, ensuring it would either pull the kid off balance, steal his own weapon, or ensure he braced himself and promised he would be inable to properly dodge the actual attack. As the tug was initiated, the swinging end of the meteor hammer would be flung toward Reichi with frightening speed, a weighted ball at the end with enough speed behind it to rather easily shatter skulls, aimed toward the kids chest for it was the biggest area of vulnerability. Furthermore, Ryu still had the advantage of being at range, ensuring no counterattack would come his way if this kid just stayed at range and played defensively.

As good as Reichi was, his skill was not enough to allow him to just play cat and mouse all day. He would whip his own leash out and force the weapon's rope to be pulled in the opposite direction of his form. It wouldn't do much, but it could help to fight off this guy's attacks by slowing momentum. He then unclipped his leash and quickly rolled out of the way one last time before turning to face both where the ball went, and his attacker. A second rope and weight spinning overhead, it was preparation to attack.

Reichi then quickly ran off the path and in to the trees of the forest surrounding the village, where he knew would be the best place to take cover from this guy's style of attacks. After all, in mid-range combat, you want obstacles.

Just another day in the Mist - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Just another day in the Mist   Just another day in the Mist - Page 2 Icon_minitimeSat Apr 10, 2010 1:07 pm

Ryu watched as the kid used his own unique style to dodge and avoid the attacks, doing everything he could to not be hit. Though his smirk would be replaced by a curiously arched brow as the boy ran off into the forest. Ryu was not sure if he was running all together, or simply using the trees to guarantee close ranged combat. Shrugging, he decided the only way to find out was to follow him, or at least lure him out.

"You expect me to believe you have skill when you run away and hide? Or you truly so much of a coward?"

As the kid ran off, still a few meters from the trees, Ryu sighed heavily in annoyance, dropping the two weights to the ground, holding the the middle of the rope in his left hand as his right formed a kata. Within a split second, the twin meteor hammer would change into a massive zambato, a sword with a size intended to take down both horse and rider in a single swing. Despite being a few feet larger than himself, with a handle at least four feet in length, Ryu was still able to wield it, and this kid was about to discover this fact. Gripping the handle with both hands, he would lean back and drag the sword to the side as his feet stepped around, in the same place. Within seconds, he would be swinging the sword around as he spun rapidly where he stood, creating a whirlwind of certain death. It only took a matter of seconds to gather the momentum needed, before he would not only release, but throw the weapon as hard as he could in Reichi's direction. The violently horizontally spinning blade would fly at the child from behind, its massive size making it difficult to dodge. However, the sword was not the intended attack, for it would easily be enough to destroy a few trees, causing explosive wooden shrapnel when it struck, also forcing trees to topple on the kid if he reached the forest too quickly. This kid had managed to avoid fast and unpredictable attacks, so Ryu decided it would be more fun and effective to assault the kid with too much power for him to handle.

"It's not cowardice, it's strategy!"

The boy would yell out as he made pace. As fast someone like Reichi could run, it wasn't as fast as he had hoped for. This guy was more than just skilled, and he was only now realizing this. It wasn't a hopeless battle, but if he would have stuck in the clear, he probably would have been beaten. Glancing over his shoulder as he ran, he would catch the sight of Ryu holding a giant sword and beginning to spin. Not sure what the guy could do, he crouched his form low and sprinted harder. That was, he would have, if he hadn't tripped two steps into it.

Falling flat on his face, he felt blood spurting from his cheek as he has struck a rock with his face. It didn't hurt, but he knew it would probably bruise and give him a big old mark later on. But when he heard the cracking of trees, he wouldn't be all too upset that he had failed to make it into the forest. Looking up, he would gaze upon the sight of multiple trees toppling over and just in time to catch one that was about to collapse on his form.

With a rolling motion, he headed further into the forest and away from Ryu. The tree would collapse right next to him, and he would quickly step up to a knee, to look over the form of the log and stare at his target. Obviously this battle wasn't going to last much longer if his enemy were capable of doing things such as knocking out trees. But since he no longer had connection with his weapon, and it was in the forest, it was up to Reichi to keep him out of the forest and take him out before he could retrieve the blade.

As he sat up, he simultaneously had pulled three senbon from his leg-pouch.

Ryu watched as the boy survived the attack by chance of luck alone, having tripped so that the blade would fly over him and destroy the trees. Laughing as the kid dodged one of the falling trees and ran further in, Ryu would crack his neck from one side to the other before giving a rolling shrug of his shoulders.

"You're a lucky kid, but any destruction of this forest is on your shoulders since you decided to hide amongst them."

He said, giving a simple wave of his hand would suddenly cause the massive sword to pull itself out of the tree and fly through the air with incredible speed. Ryu would hold out his right hand as he effortlessly caught the blade, resting its large form upon his shoulders. Ryu sighed heavily with annoyance as he tilted the blade forward to smash against the ground again, once more gripping it with both hands before he started to spin. After about ten seconds of gaining momentum, he would hurl the massive blade just as before to send it smashing into the forest where the kid was. Unless this kid had some ninjutsu techniques of his sleeve, staying at this range was only going to get him killed, for one without ranged techniques fighting at range was the only thing worse than being useless.

PostSubject: Re: Just another day in the Mist   Just another day in the Mist - Page 2 Icon_minitimeSun Apr 11, 2010 4:49 pm

Watching his opponent with intent, Reichi would have to come up with a strategy pretty quickly. But before anything could really be chosen, he would hear the other boy call out how the destruction of the forest would be his fault, despite not being the one to wield the sword. Thinking on those words, he would barely have time to hear the blade spinning back and flying through the clearing behind him until it passed by and went right back to his enemy.

'WHAT?!' His mental self almost shouted as he witnessed the opponent catch his sword as if he had just called it back by sheer force of will. It was then that he realized hiding in the forest would get him nowhere. Not if this guy could keep fighting like this. But then, there was something of an idea that came into his head. And that's when it became his strategy, the only possible way he could win right then and there.

As the other boy would begin to spin again, Reichi would turn and jump into one of the trees that was out of the sword's previous path and would get as high up into it as possible. And as he would near the top branches, he would hear the tree back crack just as before as the blade sawed through it and went past. But rather than riding the tree to the ground, he would jump to the next tree that was still standing, and wait for this guy to follow him into the forest. As much as this guy was making a mess, he probably wouldn't be able to keep his eye on Reichi if he didn't follow him into the forest that he was trying to clear down.

PostSubject: Re: Just another day in the Mist   Just another day in the Mist - Page 2 Icon_minitimeMon Apr 12, 2010 2:45 am

Ryu's eyes narrowed after he threw the sword a second time, looking to see if there was a broken bodied child within the forest rubble. Sighing as he saw nothing, he recalled the sword once more, catching it just as he had previously. He would spin again, then hurl the sword in the direction of the trees again, once more knocking several down, causing wooden shrapnel to fly in every direction. After about a minute of attempting to visually inspect the area from the distance again, he recalled the sword back into his grip for what would now be a final time. He knew that he could do this all day, but thinking about how the village would react to the forest that helped to hide the village being leveled, well... That wouldn't go well. Sighing heavily in annoyance, the sword returned to its normal form as Ryu sat down on the ground, resting the large blade across his lap, slouching forward to rest his elbows on the blade, and his chin in his hands. He spoke out loud enough to hope the kid could hear him, wherever he was, but his voice lacked any enthusiasm whatsoever.

"Oi, I have some serious training to do. If I wanted to chase pesky rodents around the bushes, I could have done that in the village. So are you going to hide and wait for an ambush all day, or can I get on with a real workout? I think I've already proven my mention of you not being on my level..."

Stepping down from one of the trees, Reichi would walk into one of the clearings that was cleared out by his sword. Tilting his head slightly and smirking, he would speak back to the words that were just mentioned. "You haven't even touched me yet, and you're presuming that you're better than me?" Reichi would somewhat ironically state with the blood dripping out of his cheek from the rock he had tripped onto earlier. He might have been good, and the level of strength and taijutsu was way out there, but there was no proof that this guy could actually beat him yet.

"The fact that you have to fight from afar, and that you're missing me this many times shows that you're wasting strength." Holding the three senbon in one hand with the left leash detached and dangling into the grass and rubble of bark and logs, he would take a judgmental face. Having seen this boy recklessly spin and toss his sword in a repetative fashion showed how much energy he must have been wasting. That on top of transforming the sword four times would be enough begin to show that Genin have a weak stamina in comparison to adults. But this kid, being older, obviously had more of it than other Genin. Still, even he wouldn't be able to continue fighting at that rate. It was just too wasteful.

"Even if you wanted to, you wouldn't be able to keep fighting like this. This is even more wasteful than ninjutsu." He commented on what he had seen and in a way that would hopefully get the other kid riled up enough to try and throw his sword once again. This time, Reichi had a strategy. Even if this kid was stronger and better with weapons, this fight could turn fair if Reichi could bring it into close-range combat.

Just another day in the Mist - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Just another day in the Mist   Just another day in the Mist - Page 2 Icon_minitimeMon Apr 12, 2010 1:42 pm

Ryu's eyes quickly darted to the child the moment he revealed himself from afar, staring blankly at him, watching him closely. Obviously this kid had a plan if he first ran away and hid, and was now exposing himself, but Ryu knew that it would not much matter. The skill between these two was as much difference between a Jounin and a Civilian in Ryu's eyes, but he would not give this kid the opportunity to even touch him with an cowardice ambush attack. The kid would speak a series of different words belittling Ryu's skill even further, something that would seem to make his very soul cringe each time, sitting up as one hand came up to his face, sighing into it. Ryu thought this could more stupid with every passing second, making claims of him losing so much stamina, despite the fact that Ryu's weapon was nearly weightless in his own hands, making even such large attacks anything but taxing on his longevity. After the kid claimed he could not continue fighting like this, Ryu just shook his head before grabbing the handle of his sword, tossing it a short distance in the air with a simple flick of his arm. He would stand up and brush off his clothing before reaching up to catch the weapon, eying the kid with an emotionless face. This kid had said far too much, and Ryu would try one last time to help the kid prove he might have a shred of talent in his tiny body, before he gave up trying to deal with this bothersome rodent.

"If you do not defeat me here and now, then I shall guarantee you can never perform Ninjutsu."

Ryu spoke before sighing as he rolling his head around once, giving his neck a good stretch. He then performed a kata with his left hand as he walked toward the kid in no rush, the sword in his hand turning into nothing more than a long stick. The staff; it was not only one of his other favorite weapons, but one of the most powerful in the hands of a skilled shinobi. He would walk toward the child, spinning the six foot long weapon between his two hands, creating his own form of ultimate defense. Despite being a straight weapon, its fighting technique is based on circles. Whirling it at great speeds, it forms a spherical barrier, offensive and defensive at once; it is both weapon, and shield. Along with its great length adding both reach and far more momentum, it's striking power becomes an incredible deadly force. Typically, a staff greatest weakness was that its power was often more than the weapon itself could sustain, shattering upon powerful blows to the target. Ryu, however, did not have to worry about this, which made the weapon even more useful than it already was. He would approach the boy slowly, giving him the close range combat that they both sought for, while also ensuring no trickery would take place on Reichi's part. Ryu would slowly get closer, the blade spinning fast enough so that only the section in his hands was entirely visible, appearing to become more invisible of a blur as one looked closer to each end of the weapon. If the boy chose not to run away again, the violent spinning of the weapon would attack the boy amongst its own rotation, being able to simultaneously attack and defend from multiple angles with his current weapon.

Just another day in the Mist - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Just another day in the Mist   Just another day in the Mist - Page 2 Icon_minitimeMon Apr 12, 2010 5:44 pm

"Then I'm going to show you what Ninjutsu is all about"

The boy responded, as soon as Ryu stated his judgment. And with three seals, formed carefully to avoid harming himself with the senbon needles, Reichi would begin to concentrate his chakras. Waiting for the other boy to get close. Though his skill wasn't much of a skill at that, watching the other boy turn his weapon into a staff and spin it around was almost too perfect. It wasn't going to be much of a strategy, but if he was right about his physics, which he wasn't all too confident in on the average occasion, then his next attack would separate the other boy from his weapon and give Reichi the attack of opportunity that he needed in order to win. And if not win, at least get in a good hit.

Waiting until the boy was just out of reach with his quarter-staff, where if the guy had chosen he would be just out of range to be able to hit (by a few inches), Reichi would then lean forward and release a large gust of air from his mouth. It wouldn't be enough to push the boy back, but as he was using a weapon whose weight was spread out throughout it's form, and at Reichi's estimation that the weapon changed weight with appearance, while Ryu was spinning it, the weapon would be picked up by its own momentum and the increase lift that it would gain with the strong gust that would come from Reichi. Not only would the weapon lift off, but likely would fly straight from his fingers as he was spinning it and would not be able to get a grip on his weapon before it would fly from his hand.

As this would occur, and directly following Reichi activating the technique, he would toss the three senbon forward. This not only would be dangerous to the enemy as their speed would increase due to the force of wind pushing their momentum, but also distract him from being able to hold on to his blade as he would have to evade as well as control his weapon from flying off into the distance. After this would occur, Reichi would then take advantage of the boy's lack of tool and would enter into the close range attacks that were his own jutsu.

PostSubject: Re: Just another day in the Mist   Just another day in the Mist - Page 2 Icon_minitimeMon Apr 12, 2010 6:23 pm

Ryu had been slowly walking closer, rapidly spinning his weapon in attempts to strike the boy with what was also serving as his own defense. However, the kid went so low as to utilize Ninjutsu to win, which was something that Ryu would not take lightly. Not. At. All. The kid would perform kata before unleashing a strong gust of wind at point blank range. Ryu could have easily kept the weapon in his grip thanks to one of its many traits, but he would teach this kid that momentum was one of the greatest natural tools of any martial arts arsenal. The weapon would fly out of his grip mid-swing, spinning violently through the air behind him, his right arm out behind him, making the loss of the weapon appear entirely on accident. Ryu's knees bent almost immediately as he watched the kid throw the senbon in his direction, but decided to not move, wanting to keep the distance.

As the needles left the kids hand, Ryu's left hand formed a seal as his right arm started coming down. The three senbon would hit him right in the chest, cringing as he bit into his bottom lip, the pain of three needles jabbing into his chest at different spots a pain he was certainly not use to, and definitely not a fan of. The needles were in about an half-inch each, something that would cause even more pain to remove, thankful that he was not struck in immediately vital areas. However, it was not enough damage to stop his body which was already in motion. As his right arm came back, the weapon flew back to his grip while simultaneously changing form from a staff, into a cat o' nine tails. It was not too often used as a combat weapon, but right now Ryu just needed something with enough spread out range to ensure a guaranteed hit at this range, while also utilizing a soft weapon to ensure even more benefit from the momentum already in place. Ryu was not usually one to take attacks to ensure others, but he knew that senbon were next to useless as combat weapons, only having any real effectiveness when used for precise, accurate attacks to specific areas. He knew that trading three small pricks on his body, for almost thirty lacerations of the boys body, was an obvious trade for any shinobi in combat.

Spoiler:

Seeing Ryu's hand form a seal just before being stuck, Reichi couldn't help but to grab at the leash and to bring it forward in a whipping motion. And just as Ryu would bring his arm down to strike the weapon into his form, the hook of his leash would pass by Ryu's face, aiming to slash him. However, it would miss by a fraction of a hair. Instead, Reichi would be struck by the full force of the oncoming cat o' nine-tails, and receive lacerations upon left arm, both legs, his back and even across the bridge of his nose. Feeling the pain, his own body would arch back ward and he would be forced into a backward step that would lead him out of the close-contact situation he was having with his enemy.

But rather than just taking the strike, his leash would guarantee revenge as it would come back with great speed as his own retreat would force the leash to whip back and slice back across the ninja's face, cutting through the ear and giving him a scar across his right cheek that he was sure to never forget. After giving his enemy a payback attack, Reichi would then fall to the ground, holding his left arm and feeling the pain that multiple lacerations could give him.

"For a pesky rodent, I have some sharp fangs."

He repeated one of the terms from Ryu's past insults to try and show the older boy that he still had the ability to give him shit, despite being wounded. At this point, the battle was over, but Reichi wasn't likely to forget what he had learned from facing the other boy. Still, that was only according to him. If Ryu still wanted to get back at Reichi, he very well would be full and able to do so.

"Gah!"

Ryu yelled out as the attack slashed his ear and face from behind, quickly reaching his left hand up to cross over his chest, holding the right side of his face. He was already in some pain from the senbon in him, now his face had been slashed. He heard the kid make the comment playing on his earlier words, glaring dangerously at him. Throwing his right arm back, it would appear he was trying to whip his own back side, though as it moved the weapon formed back into its original form, sliding it into the small sheath that held it. Bringing both hands down, he stared at the blood on his left hand before clenching his fist angrily.

"You bastard..."

Ryu grunted before quickly stepping forward, swinging a hard kick toward Reichi's side. He would do this several times, over and over, venting his anger in the best way he knew how. Though after several moments of assaulting the kid, Ryu regained himself, panting heavily, cringing in pain from multiple areas. He turned his back and slowly walked off, mumbling just before he got out of audible range. This kid had made himself look all kinds of pathetic in Ryu's eyes, not only running away and hiding, but even using ninjutsu, and permanently scarring him. This kid would not be forgotten, not in the least bit. His words would be heard, then he would vanish amongst the remaining trees, heading back to his own place of solitude.

"See you around, you worthless scrub. Try gaining some actual skill, you pathetic piece of trash."
